March 18 &19, 2026 Bulletin:
HVAC Controls: Our install is almost complete on the Parish Center (west side) of the facility. Work will soon begin on the Church (east side).
HVAC Temperatures: The HVAC system in the Church is slow to respond to rapid outside fluctuations. Please wear layers to Mass so you can shed or add layers as needed. Once the HVAC Controls are fully installed, we should have better control over inside temperatures.
Church Sound System: Technicians were on-site March 16-20 to reposition and fine tune the speakers in the church.
Phones: For increased safety and stability, we are moving all phones from our Wi-Fi network to our wired network. Work will begin to infrastructure changes within the next few weeks.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, grace, & flexibility!
November 8 & 9, 2025:
Facility Update
Because of your generous ongoing support AND your support of the Diocesan Ignite! Campaign, we have begun the process of replacing our HVAC Controls for our entire facility (Church & Parish Center (offices, classrooms, MPR, Kitchen & Banquet room). The last week of October, wire was pulled on the Church side of the building to prepare to change out our old pneumatic controls. The next step, on the Church side will be to replace valves that can be controlled electronically. Once that is finished, the Team will turn their focus to the Parish Center side of the building. We have learned that so far, 3 of the thermostats on the Paish Center side are not functioning properly. The entire project is expected to last through February of 2026.

Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Campus Update
In 1933, a Mission Parish was established in Carney, IA and in 1960, that Mission Parish became Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart. Our building is composed of 3 separate building projects: the north classrooms are part of the 1960 build, the gathering and worship space are part of the 1991 build and 2010 remodel, the remaining classrooms, office suite, conference room, gym, banquet room and kitchen were part of the 2001 build and 2024 kitchen remodel.
We have never ceased to be a Mission Parish in essence and our facilities allow us to be a people on mission to share the Gospel.
Like our own homes, our facilities need maintained, cleaned, and repaired and at times need remodeled. In the fall of 2024, we successfully completed the remodel of our kitchen. While there were some cosmetic updates, we went to the foundation and increased our electrical capacity and have provided updates that will serve the community for years to come.
Now we need to look at our HVAC systems and controls, roofs and other areas that are showing wear and needing updated. We recently learned that the chiller that keeps our gathering and worship space cool in the hot months was replaced in 2012, but the controls (thermostats etc.) have not been replaced. The chiller needs an emergency 15K repair and we are blessed to have the funds earmarked for that repair.
The other units and the roof over our meeting rooms are a major expense that we will need to make plans to cover.
- Currently our chiller needs an emergency repair of 15K – this is covered by our good financial planning.
- The controls (thermostats) on each side of the building need replaced – parts are no longer made and when 1 thermostat fails the entire HVAC system will be down until repairs are made. We can replace our controls before we replace our equipment – estimated cost is 350K
- The rooftop HVAC units on the ’01 addition are 24 years old and in need of replacement – estimated cost 490K
- The roof over the MPR/Gym and the classrooms needs replaced – estimated cost 1 million
- The lights in the church are obsolete and need replaced – estimated replacement cost 100K
- The speakers in the church need adjusted and tuned – estimated cost 40K
- Light fixtures in the hallways and classrooms are 24 years old and it is less expensive to change them as opposed to replace parts – Cost estimate in process.
